This is brought into your kind knowledge that Assistant professor Dr. Inam Bari Engineering Department Peshawar campus and his team approved the project SPS G5263 – “Analysis, Design and Implementation of an End-to-End 400 km QKD Link” under the framework of the Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme, NATO has been approved for funding. The total approved funding for the project is around 340,000.00 Euros which will cover equipment, communication and publication, traveling, consumables and stipends to PhD and Post-Doc students.
This Project is on carefully analysing every aspect of the practical implementation of a long range QKD link with trusted nodes, achieving the highest possible secret key rate generation within the security and system level constraints. To this purpose a long range QKD link with trusted nodes will be built and used as test bench. The system will include all implementation aspects, from transmission of photon states through an optical fiber or an optical free-space link, to consideration of device imperfections, low and high latency information reconciliation protocols, privacy amplification, and security analysis considering all the system and link imperfections.
This project will involve an institutional collaboration with Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica, Torino, Italy, California State University (CSULA) Los Angeles,CCA, USA and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel. It will be a collaboration between NATO countries and partner countries where I will be working as a co-director and represent Pakistan and NUCES-FAST.
The duration of the project will be 3 years from the starting date.
