The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan under the project of the Tertiary Education Support Program (TESP) is organizing a 3-Day training workshop on “Quality Assurance & Governance”. The training workshop is planned to the build capacity of faculty & staff of all HEIs/DAIs of Pakistan on quality assurance & good governance. Therefore, training workshop has been conducted for different groups of HEIs/DAIs. Region wise grouping was done that included both public and private HEIs/DAIs.
The training workshop for HEIs/DAIs of KPK region was organized from 18th– 20th May 2017 at the Margala Hotel, Islamabad. Total 23 public & private sector HEIs/DAIs of KPK participated in the training workshop.
Ms. Maria Ibrar, Deputy Manager, QEC from NUCES (FAST), Peshawar Campus attended the said training workshop.
The resource persons were;
- Dr. Azam Ali Khwaja, Ex. Director General, Quality Assurance Agency, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
- Dr. Farman Ullah, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell of University of Agriculture, Peshawar. He is certified quality professional and an active member of various quality assurance committees like he is at the penal of HEC’s Institutional Performance Evaluation, Accreditation Inspection Committee member of NAEAC-HEC.
- Mr. Salman Younus, Higher Education, Technology Consultant and co-founder XnRel.
Dr. Azam Ali enlightened the participants on Governance. He educated governance & management, 18th amendments with reference to higher education, regulatory framework & autonomy and Acts of Universities.
Dr. Farman Ullah, enlightened & discussed causes, effects, and solutions of problems for standards of higher education in Pakistan. Moreover, Quality Assurance in higher education, its mechanisms, and role & functions of QEC are discussed in great detail.
Mr. Salman Younus, educated the participants on the benefits of process Automation, IT system in higher education. Discussed Learning Management System (LMS) and Campus Management Systems (CMS) in detail.
The overall workshop was very informative as participants received hands-on experience of facilitators and get the chance for interaction with them.
