Dr. Omar Usman is currently serving as a Director of FAST-NUCES, Peshawar Campus, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Peshawar Campus. Previously, he has been the Head of the Computer Science Department, for a period of three years from the year 2016 to 2019. He actively works in a broad range of areas including, scientific and high-performance computing, information theory, computational linguistics, wireless networks, modeling and simulation, signal processing, and computational graph theory. He completed his PhD with distinction in Control and Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Ragusa and Dr. Bartolomeo Montrucchio. Prior to this, he completed his MS in Computer Systems Engineering from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, Swabi in 2008, MS in Distributed Information Systems from Brunel University, UK in 2005, and BE in Computer Systems and Software Engineering from the University of Greenwich, UK in 2002. He has numerous research publications in well-reputed conferences and impact factor journals such as IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, Journal of Applied Physics, Physica B: Condensed Matter, Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience etc. He has also secured many prestigious fundings from both National and International funding agencies.
