Dr. Tariq completed his Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship of the US Department of States under the supervision of Prof. H. Vincent Poor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University in 2016. He holds Associate Professor position at the Department of Electrical Engineering at National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (NUCES), Peshawar. He held Assistant Professor position from 2012 to 2017 in the same university. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan approved PhD supervisor, Dr. Tariq research interests are in the energy efficiency, localization and reliability in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and fault detection and localization, and demand response in smart grids. He has co-authored a book on smart grids with leading researchers from Europe, China, Japan, and USA, which was published by John Wiley & Sons in April 2015. In 2017, he has been selected by Chinese government as High End Foreign Expert through International Cooperation Project funded by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs P.R. China. He has rendered his Technical Committees services in IEEE Globecom (2017), IEEE CISS(2016), IEEE AFRICON(2015), SENSORCOMM(2011-2015), IEEE ISADS(2014) and ICET (2015). He is a regular technical reviewer of the leading journals such as IEEE transactions on comm., smart grids, industrial electronics, and sensors. He is the author/co-author of 40+ research papers, including book chapters, high impact journals and conferences. He has presented his work in conferences held in USA, Canada, Italy, France, Turkey, China, Malaysia, Macau, South Korea, Japan and New Zealand. Dr. Tariq has won the Fulbright fellowship for his Postdoc in USA, MEXT scholarship for his PhD in Japan and the HEC scholarship for his MS in South Korea. He has won student paper award in 72nd IEEE VTC 2010 held in Ottawa, and an outstanding presentation award in JSST 2011, held in Tokyo. He has also won Brain Korea 21 research grant from the Ministry of IT, govt of South Korea in 2008. He has delivered research talks at Shanghai Jiao Tong, University, Shanghai, China, North China Electric Power University, Beijing, China, CIIT, Islamabad, NUCES Islamabad, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, and Ummul Qura University, Saudi Arabia and a keynote speech on WSN at the University of Peshawar. He is a professional member of the IEEE and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). He has is also on Engineering Accreditation Council and the Program Evaluator (PEV)/Expert of PEC for evaluating Electrical Engineering programs across Pakistan.
