About Us

The ability to understand, analyze and produce natural language has deep roots in Artificial Intelligence. In recent times, its significance has increased manifolds due to the abundance of textual data. Online platforms are continuously producing content while the printed literature is digitized to a large extent. It has grown the demand for newer applications to address the open challenges associated with the understanding and analysis of this data. The center for Computational Linguistics is motivated to contribute in filling this research gap. It is a multi-disciplinary area that encompasses research dimensions like social linguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, machine learning and many more. The main theme of this research center is to build algorithms that better process and analyze natural language and contribute towards solving national problems. Newer techniques are to be developed while existing ones are to be enhanced to push boundaries for novel tasks and services with specific focus to regional languages.

Research Interests

Information extraction, automatic question answering, building knowledge-based models as ground truth for factual information, sentiment analysis, spam classification, transcription, speech processing and resource building for regional languages like parsers, corpuses, grammar correction etc.
